Goals
The Colorado Convention Centre underwent an extensive renovation and the client wanted interactive artworks in the refurbished large entry hall. This is a high traffic area so artworks needed to be bold.
Process
As I am based in New York, I needed Nine Dot Arts to provide me with detailed information about and photographs of the space. I discussed my concept with them as it developed so they could present it with ease to their client. I also worked closely with the fabricator, Ortwein Sign, to fully realise the nuances of this artwork.
Additional Information
There is something magical, something mesmeric about the movement of the rope as it leaves the hand and travels out and around and across the open landscape. Its movement is something monumentally iconic and reflective of the Colorado cowboy heritage. The lasso in all its trajectory, moving and reshaping itself. The rope and the hand of the cowboy evoking the powerful imagery of the west.
