Overview

Since 2012, Circa 1881 has curated the public areas of The Peninsula New York with artworks by contemporary masters borrowed for our Lending Library. The artworks exhibited are rotated annually to keep the guest experience fresh and exciting.

Goals

The goals of this project were to present world class contemporary art that reflect the luxury and contemporary culture associated with The Peninsula brand. Circa 1881 works closely with the hotel to curate exhibitions that enhance the guest experience and help the hotel meet strategic goals.

Process

The collaboration between Circa 1881 and The Peninsula New York has grown to include projects at other Peninsula properties and special projects around key NYC events.

Additional Information

Circa 1881 produces art programming and exhibitions of world-class contemporary art. Our clients are non-profit institutions and private companies interested in creating unique art experiences for their public spaces. The exhibited artworks are borrowed from Circa 1881’s lending library, consisting of inventory from private collections we have under management. Circa 1881’s lending library is a collection of artworks available for loan from the private collections of our members. The lending library consists of artworks by leading contemporary artists of all media, allowing Circa 1881 to create exciting exhibitions that meet the unique goals and aesthetics of our clients.
