Overview
Materials: wood, concrete and steel mesh. Recycled plywood is used as an armature and is then covered roofing paper, steel mesh and concrete. The base of the form is 6 feet in diameter and stands 16 feet high.
Goals
The Large Horn is a biodynamic form intended to represent the outgrowth of a fertile space.
Process
The commission was through an open call at Socrates Sculpture Park emerging artist program. The theme was inspired by the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. Selected artist were given $5000 to realize a project in the park. I was able to raise and additional $3000 by intimating a kickstarter campaign.
Additional Information
On opening night we projected video on to the horn, animating the form against the background of the NYC skyline.
