Overview
The Langford is a new 183,000 square foot Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in College Station, Texas. The overall design concept reflects the blended aesthetics of the Texas A&M college town and the surrounding landscapes. The space combines a rustic flare and a timeless elegance that appeals to all generations. The Clubhouse Lobby greets and serves the residents as the heart of this community.
Goals
The Clubhouse Lobby is your first impression as you walk into The Langford. It’s your hello! The goal was to create a visual statement that was beautiful and impactful. Spellman Brady & Company understood the importance of this space and how it needed something special. Using a neutral color palette in the space allows for the art to be a statement piece.
Process
Spellman Brady & Company contacted Doug Frates Glass to design two 9 x 7 wall features using his glass rosettes. Using eight different colors in opaque, transparent and iris shades that are found throughout the community he created 22 rosettes in various sizes to transform the space into a vibrant kaleidoscope of color and light that give a floating illusion.
