The exterior mural I crafted for Granville restaurant in North Hollywood is a sweeping masterpiece that unfolds across the entire side and front of the building, creating a captivating visual journey. This epic and large-scale artwork mirrors the vibrancy and warmth that patrons find within. As you step into Granville, the immersive experience continues with additional murals adorning the interior, spanning both the bottom and second floors. Granville, a premium casual dining establishment, takes pride in serving meticulously crafted meals made from scratch using responsibly sourced ingredients. Beyond being a culinary haven, the restaurant’s exterior mural becomes a testament to the artistry that echoes the dedication and quality embodied by Granville’s culinary offerings and inviting ambiance.

Goals

The objectives of incorporating commissioned artwork in this project held great significance. Situated in North Hollywood, a hub for a diverse community with a rich mix of creatives in the film industry and artisans, the aim was to create and implement a mural that not only celebrated the cultural diversity but also infused vibrant life and color throughout the community. This integration played a pivotal role in capturing and reflecting the dynamic spirit of North Hollywood, fostering a sense of inclusivity and artistic vibrancy within the local environment.

Process

The collaborative journey primarily involved the owner of Granville restaurant and me. Working closely with him was a delight as I recognized him as an artistic intellectual. His intuitive ideas sparked a back-and-forth design process, aiming to encapsulate what resonated with him and create a statement of beauty for the new restaurant in North Hollywood.
