Overview
In the lobby of Driskill Hotel, is a colorful ceiling dome. Bryant Stanton designed a statement piece that captured the Driskill’s historical character through art.
Goals
Every piece at the Driskill Hotel tells a story and appears as if had always been part of the hotel. The owners wanted to make a statement in the hotel lobby; therefore, they hired Stanton Studios to come up with a model of a dome for their lobby. They presented it to the owners as a statement piece, and they loved it. This began the design and implementation stage for the iconic Driskill dome. Something so unique about this dome is that even from the street, the dome is visible for people to see it. It has become a beacon, drawing people into the hotel.
Process
For this project, there was much collaboration between Bryant Stanton (artist), the black smith and the lighting company. All partners had to work together to put together a dome that was aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound.
