Overview
Kinetic sculpture for Healing Garden. Artwork is 120″ High X 36″ X 31″. Fabricated from Stainless Steel and painted Mild Steel. Sculpture is designed to spin freely on an internal axle, actuated either manually, or by the wind.
Goals
The proposed location for the sculpture was a Healing Garden, near the Oncology wing of The St. Charles Medical Center. The committee which managed the project were particularly interested in incorporating a sculptural element that had a soothing and calming visual effect. The Dreamweaver matched this criteria perfectly.
Process
The sculpture was originally created in a larger scale, some time before this commission existed. A slightly smaller version of it was seen by the committee, while it was being exhibited at Gallery 903, in Portland, Oregon. It was at then that events were set in motion for this sculpture to be procured for the St. Charles project in Bend, Or.
