Heart and Bone Signs
“The Announcement” is a new mural for the Lincoln Square neighborhood in Chicago. The mural references the past and the future of the neighborhood, as well as specific iconic buildings and the fountain. The silhouette figure represents a jazz singer, and she is seen as announcing a new chapter for the neighborhood.
The goal for the Lincoln Square neighborhood was one of beautification, and telling the local story of the area. The hope was to create an iconic statement, and instagrammable backdrop for the local residents and visitors.
My initial design was slightly different, with the silhouetted character, but I was able to work with the Chamber of Commerce on several design tweaks. The final layout was able to highlight specific buildings such as the Dank Haus, which is important and recognizable in the neighborhood, as well as the Lincoln Square fountain.
