Overview
Made from reclaimed Indian classical tabla drumheads donated by tabla percussionists, Tabla Tapestry by Seema Lisa Pandya is a set of two sculptures juxtaposed on a wall to mirror one another. Each round drumhead has had hundreds of hours of concentrated energetic rhythmic touch by musicians until the skin is no longer usable. Seema has woven these rhythmical instrument parts together and juxtaposed the forms to represent a rhythmical “push-pull” balance that is a fundamental building block of sound and natural forms. Dimensions listed represent final hanging with spacing.
