Overview
Made from reclaimed Indian drumhead painted with India ink. Tabla Fascial Tala- by Seema Lisa Pandya is made from the drumhead skins of the Indian classical tabla drum donated by tabla percussionists. Each round drumhead has been played for thousands of hours by musicians until the skin is no longer usable. Seema draws inspiration for rhythm as a pattern of biology where the drum heads represent cells. This piece in particular is inspired by the biological connective fascia tissue interwoven throughout the body stabilizing and separating all muscles and body systems. Materials: Tabla drum heads, India Ink, black leather and Wood. 55″ x 37″ x 1″.
