Overview
Symphony in DC Major, 125'L x 16″h x 4'd; polished stainless steel & painted aluminum
Goals
Prominently located in DC's historic Shaw neighborhood, the artwork celebrates three iconic individuals having historical ties to the community: Duke Ellington, Colonel Robert Gould Shaw & Alma Thomas. The story of Shaw unfolds with the vibrant and dynamic energy of the sculpture.
Process
I worked closely with developers, architects, city planners and the community to develop an engaging urban street scape honoring the history of the neighborhood.
