Overview
We're an internal Physical Experience Design team at Capital One, for SXSW 2017 we created a touch capacitive wall to spotlight Capital One products in a subtle & playful way by incorporating them into a mural depicting the unique culture of Austin, Texas. Custom animations and sound effects were activated when guests touched the glowing hotspots.
Goals
We worked with muralist Ferran Torras on several iterations of the composition to accommodate custom animations by Ryan Luse. Their unique perspectives were essential to the success of this piece.
Process
We concepted the site specific installation then developed a list of assets and mood boards around illustration/motion styles that we liked but left it fairly open ended for Ferran and Ryan to express themselves through their respective mediums. Our team worked in parallel to develop the tech and produce a physical experience that people would enjoy interacting with.
