Digital animations for LED billboard in Times Square.
‘Street Spirits’ is a suite of digital animations designed for the ZAZ10TS corner LED billboard in Times Square, Manhattan NY, presented as part of the In Between public art program. These works ran 24/7 through the month of February, 2021.
In these animations, totemic faces appear within a computer-generated, neon-saturated field of computer-generated botanical forms and radiating geometric patterns. These animistic spirits manifest in the flow of electronic media space and reflect the luminous, electric energy of New York City.
ZAZ10TS is an ongoing cultural initiative that integrates art into the office building at 10 Times Square in New York City. The ZAZ10TS gallery space employs the building’s façade, lobby interior, and two-screen corner LED billboard to bring art and culture to the building’s community, visitors, and passersby.
Sean Capone Studio worked closely with the ZAZ10TS project director and chief curator to design several suites of animation that played throughout February-March, 2021, and to curate original works by three emerging U.S.-based Chinese artists for an animation showcase in the month of April, 2021.
