Overview
Stegosaurus skeleton with LED lights. Taking the idea of a kids wooden dinosaur puzzle and completely reimagining it as a large scale metal sculpture. This Stegosaurus stands 42″ high and is 84″ from nose to tail. It is all made from welded Corten steel so it will develop a natural patina over time. The plates are designed with an integrated channel for the LED lights.
Goals
A goal was to create a sculpture for outdoor enjoyment by all that would be experienced differently at day and night. The use of LEDs gives it a second appearance at night as a streamlined silhouette.
Process
The piece was designed digitally and then cut using CNC. All pieces were treated to remove mill scale and then welded.
