Goals
In collaboration with the university, the goal of this project was to create a sculpture that would be engaging and interactive. The location of the commission was in a highly popular student center, and the university wanted a sculpture that would create dialogue and contemplation, that would serve to transform the environment not just aesthetically, but introspectively as well.
Process
The collaboration process was very pleasant and honest. Both the university and I shared the same goals, and went my initial design was proposed, we all were able to have honest and open conversations with each other.
Additional Information
The year after it was installed, University of South Florida started a graduate level course on how my sculpture affected and completely changed the social interaction on campus. It was quite humbling and special to see the incredible impact the Steel Eye had on the university.
