Overview

As part of the permanent public art collection for the California Natural Resources Agency, Dyson & Womack spearheaded the commissioning of the first-ever public art collection of digital media for the State of California.

We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to commission 13 artworks for display on a 24-foot-wide by 31-foot-tall media wall at the New Natural Resources Headquarters. This inaugural collection heralds a new opportunity for leveraging existing resources to showcase public art and provide public art funds to a wider range of artists.

Commissioned artists include Angelo Rosales, Chris Jordan, Chris Kallmyer, Danski Tang & Josh Shaffner, Elizabeth Leister, Gabriel Barcia-Colombo, Heidi Duckler Dance, Jessica Wimbley & Chris Christion, Kevin Cooley, Maru Garcia with Hye Min Cho & Maura Palacios Mejia, Miguel Arzabe, RIGER, and Sarah Rara.

Goals

Dyson & Womack brought together a group of talented artists in order to address key themes of sustainability, ecology, and the global impacts of climate change through the lens of digital media.

The digital media collection is part of the Public Art CA public art program, a contemporary collection of artworks commissioned for the State of California. This project is featured at the California Natural Resources Headquarters building in downtown Sacramento.
