The project, We are Written in the Layers of the Earth, by artist Evon Zerbetz is in between the state library and state archives at SLAM, State Library, Archives, and Museum of Juneau, Alaska. The glass art piece is 65 feet by 9 feet.

The artwork is inspired by the state's history, it's stories and by the library and museum itself.

Derix worked with the artist to create the safety glass consisting of float glass, hand painting black contours, coatings and transparent vitreous enamels, airbrushing of vitreous enamels, application of antique glass, and acid etched flashed glass.
