Overview

Three contemporary stained glass windows for a private library designed and crafted to provide privacy and relaxing ambience for the users of the Library.

The joyous semi-abstract composition depicts an uplifting view into the landscape that spans across all three Library windows. The idea came from envisioning one reading a book in a peaceful library while occasionally taking a rest looking into the beautiful landscape.

Hand crafted through meticulous application of modern and traditional techniques, the chosen glass for this project was beautiful Gold Pink Flash made through the ancient mouth blown method. The glass was hand cut, acid etched, hand painted and airbrushed with vitreous enamels, decorated with 24 carat gold and kiln fired several times. The glass pieces were finally glazed with lead and the windows were waterproofed.

Goals

The main aim was to provide a pleasant, relaxing and intimate ambiance inside the Library. The clients also cared for an uplifting element, all if which the Glass Art windows successfully fulfilled. The windows were sensitively designed to complement the interior and all surrounding living spaces of the private residence. These were the main important aspects that were manifested in the form of the stained glass artwork.
