Client: Southern Hotel

Overview

The Southern Hotel commissioned Grahame to design and paint this poolside mural. Located just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, the Southern Hotel’s vaunted history of hospitality began in 1907. Established as a physical and spiritual retreat where visitors would re-energize amidst the area’s cool breezes, piney woods and mineral springs, the hotel hosted guests for more than 50 years.
Grahame had always been fond of vintage travel posters, and was delighted to come up with the perfect design for the 29′ x 15′ tall poolside mural.

Goals

The client was specific about wanting an authentically vintage looking image, which encapsulated people enjoying themselves in a well known locale.

Process

Working with the client, and after a lot of research with regards to style, fashion content, and fonts, I created a design which was accepted!

This wa s a wonderful project for me as the weather was kind and the hotel and it's staff a joy.
