The artist was commissioned to create an original work of dimensional wall sculpture for the Leonard Cancer Institute.
The designer proposed my artwork to the client for the space because, in general, my compositions tend to be uplifting as well as appeal to a wide range of audience. Since the space is a cancer treatment facility, the work needed to be peaceful & soothing yet inspirational & positive.
I was commissioned to design & create the artwork for the space because the designer had seen previous works that I had made in my bird series which looked like they could be a good fit for the space & the specifications. I designed a composition from my bird series involving colors that were complementary of their interior materials & previously specified artwork as well as being inspired by the tonal range of the nearby Pacific Ocean. Through discussion & feedback from the designer, a final composition was refined & revised.
