Overview
Singularity was designed and painted directly on the back facade of a long building. The final dimensions are 10 x 100 ft.
Goals
Time Equities owns an office building that is directly facing the back of the long "strip mall" that the mural is painted on. The goal for the mural was to "hide" all the necessary exterior electrical and plumbing fixtures as well as to create a visually pleasing facade for the office staff.
Process
Time Equities project manager sent me images of the building and CAD drawings so that I can familiarize myself with the building and have the dimensions that I needed to work to. I then worked on creating a rendering in Illustrator that would fulfill the criteria listed above. Once the pattern/design was set (after several collaborative meetings) I sent over several color mock-ups for them to choose from. The final step was to find a local company that could execute the mural and coordinate with them the color selection. To that end I went to a local exterior paint store and chose colors that corresponded with the selected Pantone colors shown in the mock-up. The collaboration on this project involved a client (located in NY), artist (located in Seattle) and the painter (located in Grand Rapids). This project was a complete success and 90% of this collaboration was done remotely via emails and calls.
