Overview
Five life sized equine silhouettes gallop, canter, trot, leap, and rear along the grassy verge of Pine Island Park, in Davie FL, a town still flourishing with equestrian history
Goals
The goal was to make a significantly visible artwork within a limited budget that celebrated the town's equine history. I chose to work in a silhouette form, realizing that I could make more pieces on a larger scale that would have greater visual impact than my typical 3D sculpture
Process
I designed five horse silhouettes (based on previous sculptures and drawings I had made) to depict celebratory movement and fluid energy. Eric Small and his team at EES designs fabricated the pieces, plasma cutting them from steel and stainless steel plates. The pieces are two-sided with structural steel tubing sandwiched within them.
