Overview

Abstraction painting using acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. Using a 36 x 36 canvas, and a limited palette of blue and umber, I conveyed the main idea that Hon. Judge Lizbet Muñoz wanted to state in her court: the law applies equally regardless of your skin color. The painting has a heart in the center. The heart is surrounded by seven squares represented the different skin tones of human beings.
My voice in painting is distinctive because I use a small, impasto-like short stroke. This creates the feeling that the design on the composition is floating above the canvas.

Goals

The goal for integrating commissioned artwork into Hon. Judge Lisbet Muñoz was to state the equality in her court. The overall design had to convey the message loudly and clearly, and at first sight. Judge Muñoz wanted a composition that anyone could understand just by looking at it.

Process

I created a prototype in a small scale and presented it to Hon. Judge Lisbet Muñoz. She approved the prototype, and I began the large painting.
