Overview
I was invited to create a sculpture for the college. I wanted to address concepts of ‘knowledge’ and ‘growth’ in a way that is visually interesting and meaningful. Because my work is primarily based on nature, I use plant forms to suggest metamorphosis, blossoming, and pollinating as visual metaphors. I created 29 individual ceramics seed pods that were threaded onto a fabricated steel branch-like frame. It measures 11’ x 5’ x 5’ .
Goals
Process
I used a local fabricator who was an alumnus of the college to do all the steel work and installation.
