Overview
The goals of integrating artwork and place was important. There were 4 walls and limited budget. With the theme," Seaweed and shells", I tied the 4 walls together, using different seaweeds and shells.
Goals
So with two different background colors, blue and turquoise, I created a visual tension to look at the center, as the turquoise color is warmer, and at the sides I have the blue, as a more distant and inactive color, so there is an actual "drama" in this placement of color.
Process
The collaboration was very simple, I did some designs and the City looked at them and chose a design. Tiles were selected, and I started. The City commissioner came to see my work and seemed happy for the work coming along. As the work was ready to be placed on the wall, a tiler was appointed, and the work was placed. The tiler and I had a great collaboration, and the tiler admitted it was one of his greatest experiences as a tiler. The city has now seen it, and is happy for the outcome, as a seemingly ugly place has now become an attractive place.
Additional Information
The space was challenging, however I am happy for the solution.
