Overview
This architecturally dramatic house is on a rocky overlook on the seashore. The client wanted a piece to fit into a small footprint, but quite vertical. The materials are cast glass and steel. The steel is rust finished and sealed to relate to rusted steel artifacts found at the shore. There are 3 separate pieces, bolted to the floor. They range between 8' 6″, and 10' 8″.
Goals
The client loves the sea shore and the various life forms found there. She wanted the artwork to reflect that, but not to try and reproduce them, simply more 'quote' the ideas, color of water, etc.
Process
I worked with the client for size, color ideas, placement. I added to beach stones to cover the steel mounting plates. The stones sit on the finished oak floor and give a nice sense of bringing the outside in.
