Client: Delhi Township

Overview

Sculpture Garden V, commissioned by Delhi Township is located not far from my Lansing studio. At an impressive 12 x 4 x 4 feet, this sculpture depicts a combination of shapes suggestive of a garden setting; easily recognizable leaves, an abstract bird along with other forms open to viewer interpretation offer an interesting interplay of shapes. The uplifting nature of the design affords a pleasant respite to all who pass. As viewers walk around, or drive by Sculpture Garden V they will enjoy the visual movement of curved and straight lines and cutouts, resting on a triangular base. All angles offer interest, enhanced by light and shadow.

Goals

It is my hope that Sculpture Garden V gives a feeling of “this is a nice place to live; and/or this is a nice place to have a business,” in keeping with Delhi Township’s efforts to strengthen economic development. This is a “placemaking” sculpture, promoting happiness and well-being.
