Salude Medical Center, the Art of Healing
These works were selected from existing inventory. Client had viewed a different work in the community, and decided the style of the works had the contemporary and warm feelings they wanted to enhance the facility.
There was a limited budget, and the hope was to have work that engaged the hospital patients. The two works were located in two distinct gathering areas, easily accessible to the residents. The warm reflective metal with embracing "arms" is admired by many.
The client had several designers work with me. We met on site, and discussed details of installation and positioning.
The circle reaches out to me with a cleanliness of shape, present in our ever day life, just one beautiful line with no beginning, middle or end. The circle is an incredible spiritual shape that invites interpretation. I use the entire circle, whole and complete, contrast it with circle segments, and other times will use other geometric shapes to make circles, or shapes that have a circular element to them...quite a juxtaposition.. Our lyrical, caressing rings form sculptures that suggest the pathways of life, the forces of nature or human emotions.
