Overview
Rose beautifully redefines what a conference ballroom space can be. Rose was commissioned to create a powerful memory of place and be the distinguishing aesthetic element to these large gathering spaces.
Appearing as white roses emerging from the ceiling the hand thermoformed polymer panels catch the interior down spot lighting to create soft patterns of light and shadow in the room below. Changing the LED colorway can redefine the space instantly turning white roses to red or any other color. The room can be ready for a wedding, a conference, or a party by simply changing the lighting effect on the sculpture.
The Rose works to redefine the ceiling plane creating depth and interest, but is shallow enough not to interfere with projectors or other activities below. The panels also are clear of fire suppression systems installed.
Rose is a dramatic and beautiful centerpiece, making this center a destination for all types of activities.
Goals
The primary goal of this project was to beautify a convention hall space that is used for multiple purposes including parties, weddings and commercial events. The sculpture was designed to integrate tightly to the ceiling to avoid interference with projection throws yet create depth and interest to the ceiling plane. The theme was botanical and the feeling of white roses blooming from the ceiling.
