Overview
“Reflection” is a photograph of a peaceful scene featuring a duck and its mirror image, which is installed at the Transplant Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Goals
The VUMC Transplant Clinic art selection team worked closely with the VUMC art curator and they chose my image for the lobby of a new VUMC Transplant Clinic (Nashville, TN). Their goal was to create a peaceful place for transplant patients, their families and staff.
Process
I was contacted by the Transplant Center art selection lead who was working with architects and designers to build a new Transplant Clinic. The team wanted to use my art in their new lobby setting. I presented a concept of work specific to Tennessee which was widely agreed upon. I spent months creating images, and presented a body of work for consideration. “Reflection” was chosen for its peaceful, emotive qualities. The file size and detail enabled us to scale to a large custom image fitting the specified lobby space. We quickly produced a dye sublimated wood panel which was selected for its quality, durability and dramatic display of rich colors.
Additional Information
It was a privilege to create artwork fulfilling their mission of making the Transplant Center a warm and welcoming place.
