Overview

This colorful and expansive sculpture now greets patients arriving to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Called “Reflection,” the more than 120-foot work of art features a color palette inspired by the changing seasons here in the Midwest. Elegant and gracefully flowing shapes echo the organic shapes of leaves and flowing water in nature.

Goals

"I wanted to create a piece that was energetic and conveys movement," says sculptor Matthew Placzek. "Not only does the piece represent the hope for tomorrow, but the power of a determined and optimistic spirit. It is my goal to create a connection between nature and the cancer center, evoking inspiration and instilling a calm sense of reflection."
