Overview
Sculpture honoring a pioneer of civil rights in the city of East Lansing, MI.
Goals
The importance was to integrate the sculpture into the new landscaping for the City Hall, and to complement the existing building.
Process
The artist presented 3-4 initial designs, then worked with the team to site the selected design in the new landscaping. An appropriate base was also designed for the sculpture.
Additional Information
The variety of shapes in the sculpture refer to the variety of people living with no housing restrictions thanks to the efforts of Mary P. Sharp in the 60s civil rights movement in East Lansing.
