Overview

“Rail to The Sea” is a 4200 sq. ft. fine art mural that has been named one of Culture Map’s 15 most quintessential murals in Houston, which can be found on Google Earth. This work was created through a public call. I raised $15,000.00, procured free paint and a donation of a scissor lift for two weeks. All my murals are archival. I treat surface prep very seriously with power washing and a high-grade exterior primer, which changes dependent of the surface of the wall. The paint is all brushed on and waste disposed of correctly and conscientiously, as I am an environmentalist. The work is then treated with an anti-graffiti coating. We have elaborate schedules and maps for project assistants. I have a project manager on every installation as well to make sure things run smoothly. Rail to the Sea is currently in the heart of the Sawyer Yards Arts District. It is the fourth largest mural in the City of Houston by one artist.

Goals

The work was designed based off my iconic Character series. Commissioned by Leadership Houston Class of 34 and selected through an open call process through the City of Houston.

Process

This was a community and environmental project is was a very rewarding work and I am extremely honored that is was eventually dedicated to the City of Houston.
