Overview

A private client approached me to do two figurative sculptures for a space in their garden. I suggested we use ballerinas for the theme as I could capture a sense of movement in the works. The sculptures being pulled apart and disintegrating worked well with my body of work's ideas around mortality and decay. I had no size constraints due to the spacious outside area.

Process

I went for many site visits to the client's house so that we could first decide on the perfect position for the sculptures and afterwards to create the correct environment for installation. I also did sketches of my preposed idea which the clients approved of . The client was familiar with my work and gave me artistic freedom to do the pieces.
