Overview
A flock of 7 life sized swans with books for wings in the library. Local trumpeter book swans flying north, spring is coming.
Goals
The library facility is a completely open and soaring space with large wrap around clerestory windows. The swans are 6 feet long and are imposing at about 55 pounds each but they occupy the space with grace and some subtlety. Ascending from 12' in the children's reading area up to the windows 50 feet away 16' up... it is hard to imagine the space without them.
Process
The hanging of the swans at the correct angle was critical and the project manager worked with me in the lift to set the cable length and direction. The hanging of the piece was a total collaboration with the manager.
