Overview
Inspired by a smaller similar piece called Embrace, Mr. Norton asked if we could enlarge it for a public plaza located between the Longstreet medical clinic and the Children’s wing of NE Georgia Hospital.
Goals
The project was commissioned in May and delivered in August. The work is made from high chromium 300 series stainless steel, mounted on a powder coated base of the same material. It measures, not including the concrete pedestal, 110h x 96w x60” d.
Process
The thinking behind it- the vertical rings represent the family- mom, dad and the kids. The nearly horizontal ring, whole and complete represents the healing powers and security that the Doctors provide. The work was dedicated to the professional medical staff that works in the local hospital and medical clinics surrounding the site.
Additional Information
Images show the piece it was inspired by, Embrace 28X26X16 At work in the studio in wood, gives the client the opportunity to see the real thing and discuss any changes.
