Overview
My work reflects an ongoing exploration into the aesthetics of using language in art. While most conceptual artists incorporate text into their work as a means of analyzing popular culture or for making political and social commentary, I am more intrigued with developing text as a visual design element.
Additional Information
These steel pieces have all been ground and finished on both sides with the intention that they should be hung in the middle of a space where they can be viewed from any angle. The pieces that are suspended from a single chain are free to rotate with the airflow that pushes through a room, creating an occasional and unpredictable kinetic effect. With spot lighting, the shadows from the pieces play on the walls behind them, creating an extension of the artwork through the use of light and dark.
