THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO
Overview
The Art Institute of Chicago wanted to get the public excited for their Warhol exhibition. I thought that we should manually reproduce a Warhol silk screen (silk screening is mechanical and mural painting is not). I felt that if I reproduced it in paint on a grand scale we could get the public interested and talking about Warhol’s studio practice. Cushman and Wakefield was a sponsor of the exhibition and they had a great location for a large scale mural right downtown and only blocks from the Art Institute.
Goals
Get the public interested in Warhol's studio practice.
Process
The AIC and I discussed which image would work best downtown. The area is drab full of grey buildings and steel.
