Overview
ProjectConnect is the first public park in Pittsburgh to have free wifi, solar charging and art. This is project was a collaboration project between HackPGH, MetaMesh, Local community and The City of Pittsburgh Division of Public Art & Civic Design. Through using technology such as laser cutters and wifi routers we were able to create pittsburgh's first smart park. The park includes artwork from members of the community inside of the acrylic diamonds that are located in the fence.
Goals
We wanted to find a way connect the neighborhood together. We did this through the use of technology and play to create community hub. Adding the communities art made sure this is a park for them.
Process
We originally canvased the neighborhood to see what they wanted to see in their park. After parsing though the data, what stood out was wifi, ways to charge their devices and art. Though many meetings between the city and some amazing collaboration, us we made this park a success.
