Overview
Principal Artist Forest Stearns collaborated with Planet Labs to produce the largest art show in Earth’s Orbit. The goal was to create a process to beautify every satellite to be launched into space in order to celebrate the creative process of humanity as we migrate out towards the stars. Over a 4.5 year span, Stearns was founded artist and curated the Artist in Residence program. Establishing a successful process to apply art into each of the spacecrafts launched into space, art on rocket ships, murals on radomes, and facilitated experiences daily in the workplace.
Goals
-Facilitation of an Artist in Residence program to produce the first art show in Earth's Orbit.
Process
The approach was to produce huge works right in the center of the technologically driven office space. Shoulder to shoulder with the engineers and entrepreneurs. The juxtaposition of the creative experience inspired innovation and wonder. From art on spaceships to murals in the office space, the intention of the production of projects is to inspire Creative Permission in the workplace.
