Overview
“Adapting Concentration” was realized after number conversations with the owners. The sculpture is 26 inches H by 38 inches W by 60 inches L. It is made of beeswax, tree resin, brass, steel, nylon line.
Goals
Nature is the first artist offering bounties of original forms and formations of art. Working in tandem with the defining features of nature, light, space, and vantage points (inside and out), this biomorphic, site-responsive, suspended sculpture is in multiple visual conversations. Its forms create a warm, alluring ceiling texture nodding to the window view of trees, rolling landscape and ground moss. For a moment, the divide between inside and out is bridged.
Process
The creation of "Adapting Concentration" is the result of numerous conversations with the owners. Their ideas of how they live in their home coupled with their interests in form, texture and materials informed the making of the sculpture. The builder was intimately involved with regard to technical support, placement and installing.
