Overview
Press Play is an interactive installation that uses sight, sound and touch to promote community activity and social interaction through play. The piece is not just a visual experience but a hub for activity within a public space. You can sit, climb, and lay on the installation's bubble like form, but when you touch the different colored pads the piece begins to play sounds. Each pad triggers a different sound creating a giant midi pad that people can play. The installation uses touch sensor technology to create this unique experience in what was once an underutilized space between buildings.
Goals
This project is about creating community activity and social interaction through sparking creativity, exploration, and free-choice learning into a once underutilized space. The artwork was commissioned to create a connection between the Alamance county arts building, the children's museum, and the public library. Its sound and playability helps guide people down the path from building to building.
