An uberluxe bungalow in Vadodara designed by Shailesh Parikh conforms to stringent vastu requirements, as it incorporates new age materials into the contemporary aesthetic.

Originating in vedic times, vastu shastra, the traditional Hindu system of architecture, prescribes principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement and spatial geometry. The designs are intended to integrate architecture with the cosmos, the relative functions of various parts of the structure, and ancient beliefs – utilising geometric patterns (yantras), symmetry and directional alignments.

It was exactly these requirements which Shailesh Parikh was required to conform to, in his design of this two-level 16,000 sq ft bungalow, sitting on a 28,000 sq ft plot. Heavily vastu compliant down to the artwork, colours of walls and the materials used in different spaces, Parikh’s design takes all the restrictions within its stride.
