Overview
I proposed a forest grove for the second or third floor of your Student Commons. With the proximity of Mt Tabor, Powell Butte, and Mt Scott, there is a strong connection between the campus and the nearby landscape. The white and concrete corridors would be enhanced by the light, color and tranquility provided by these impressionistic woodland paintings. In keeping with the goals of the committee, the imagery is accessible to a broad population, and engages the viewer with the beauty of the natural world. The works would be painted on stretched canvas with acrylic paint.
Goals
The selection committee's goal was to commission accessible, welcoming work for the students and community that frequent the Portland Community College Campus.
Process
Working with the selection committee, I presented three concept studies for the site they selected, and the budget I proposed.
