Overview
The City of Fort Collins commissioned May & Watkins to create four sculptures that would serve as entrance pieces to their restored nature preserve. These sculptures reflect the colors and forms of the western flora. The sculptures range in height from 8 to 16 feet, and are made of powder coated steel.
Goals
Our goal was to create signature sculptures, to mark the entrances and parking areas of the park, that worked with the natural surroundings, and that created areas of interest and focus. Color was a particular concern, so we selected a non-RAL color that had a natural look, like prairie grasses. Over the years, it has weathered beautifully.
