Overview
by Barbara Cooper – Suspended in the atrium of Pro Medica’s new Generations Tower, built to honor the families of Toledo and assist in the restoration and renovation of the communities there. Wood and perforated stainless steel (45’ long x 13’ wide x 3’ high)
Goals
The very different materials of wood and metal materialize the tension and connection between the physical and the spiritual and the wholeness and complexity of what constitutes a life.
Hospitals are traditionally the treatment site for the physical body. More and more we are recognizing that the outer body is the manifestation of the inner spirit. The fluid movements of water and air that are embedded in this piece reference their ability to move and flow around obstacles and to transform into new configurations; they are a metaphor for the coming together of the supportive and shared community of the hospital.
