ILLUMINATA art glass design
Guy Clark Interiors
Using an inspiration from the Pioggia collection, I created a luxury chandelier with over 300 custom colored glass raindrops and airline cables to illuminate an elegant Upper-Eastside apartment dining room in New York City.
Each commission for me, as an artist, becomes a journey to interpret the space and the client's vision, and create something unique. In this case, designer Guy Clark was interested in the Pioggia series from my collection. We then collaborated to create custom colors for the glass, the size of the fixture, and extra details such as the brushed nickel finish and rounded corners to emphasize the other design elements in the space. With Guy’s expert design concepts for the apartment, and the client’s trust in the creative process, it was easy to create something spectacular to add to the collection.
Everything in this luxury apartment was custom from hand-painted wallpaper to hand hewn marble floor with a metal inlay as grout. The custom art-glass chandelier is a focal point seen from most rooms in the apartment. It sets the tone for entertaining, featuring original artwork as a functional element and allows people an enjoyable experience through art.
Julie Conway uses her skills as a glassmaker and lighting designer to interpret the custom requests of clients in a wide variety of spaces, using light and glass to make an experiential focal point of functional art. Integrating color schemes, furnishings and texture patterns is her forte. Building on a theme, her creative process results in something unique for the client, while allowing their contribution to become part of the final product. Custom UL- Listed wiring is included for certified installation and inspection. Energy-efficient LED’s are available.rtist and part of the original ILLUMINATA collection.
