Overview
Pickup Sticks is a 180 feet long x 60 inches high continious painting in glass. It acts as a screen to separate public from private space for a Montessori school in Kitsilano, Vancouver BC. Commissioned by the City of Vancouver and Pinnacle International. The art work was inspired by rhythm, movement, chaos and order. It creates a child like play, like the game pickup sticks, which is highly involved in the elements of chance.
Goals
The goal was to create a playful, vibrant, Place Marker screen for a diverse community and children.
Process
The process took 4 years. Fabrication of the large glass components where made at our art.site studio in sechelt BC, Canada. The complete panels were finalized at a commercial factory. With each project we push the medium to expand its possibilities.
