Sculpture commissioned by St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH. Texture of local trees and rocks were used to create the artwork.
Goals
The mascot for St. Paul's School is the pelican, and I had the honor of creating three metal pelican hanging sculptures commissioned by the school to commemorate its culture.
Process
My creative process is very organic and I use textures found in the nature to create my metal creatures. To better understand my working process below you can find a series of images that show the different steps I followed to make my artwork:
Step 1: Get the inspiration for the final sculpture from the nature.
Step 2: Find the right texture that will better simulate the bird skin and make the silicon molds.
Step 3: Use the silicon molds to create the wax model.
Step 4: Cast the wax model and create final piece.
