Overview
Initial introduction to the project was as a selected artist to a limited invitation competition. The brief was not specific to any particular medium and was set to have an artwork sited anywhere within the newly built communal space of the 'Forum'.
My choice was to use the glazing of three areas of the building envelope as the canvas of the artwork and to have digital ceramic printing as the method to fire the coloured forms onto the glass.
Goals
The abstract work draws its themes and inspiration from the Universities multiple activities of research and teaching. Importantly I wanted the artwork to be focused on delivering a positive feeling to a very busy space used by a very large student population.
Process
The artwork was subjected to a process that involved comment and feed back from the Universities art committee as well as the architects, Wilkinson Eyre.
